Reflections from Noah

HomeWorks has always been a community in my eyes. It’s a place with a diverse group of people all sharing their unique skills and experiences to create a safe space for people to come together.

Being at HomeWorks, I was able to grow both emotionally and mentally. I was able to figure out more about who I am as a person through many challenges and opportunities. I learned what I liked and didn’t like, how to navigate through my struggles, and how to better work with those in my community. I really enjoy growing and improving myself as a person, and HomeWorks has given me many opportunities to continue this journey.

My three favorite HomeWorks activities that personally challenged me were rock climbing, our New York trip, and horseback riding. I particularly liked rock climbing as it challenged me to persevere through difficult situations and trust in my community. Rock climbing taught me to push against the odds and continue fighting which I enjoyed as I like pushing myself and challenging my limits.

I also enjoyed the New York trip as I was exposed to a new city in its various forms as we explored its different areas and settings. Being exposed to different surroundings really opened my eyes to the beauty that we as human beings can bring to our communities. Horseback Riding was amazing as I enjoy being with nature. I think it is very important for humans to connect with animals, and this trip gave us the ability to do so on an emotional level. We were able to bond with the horses by grooming them and riding them.

With these experiences, I am excited to have more opportunities to gain new character traits as I continue my journey within this program to one day share my new attributes with others and achieve my own goals.
